Symantec Launches SMB Specialization for Partners; Enhances Partner Program Components

By joe

Symantec sees big opportunities for solutions providers in the small and midsize business market. The company has launched an SMB Specialization for Partners, which is designed for Channel Registered and Channel Silver partners in North America. It was one of several closely related announcements Symantec made at company’s partner summit near San Diego.

The Symantec program provides priority access to technical support, toll-free partner hotline, pre-ordered select SMB not-for-resale products and a dedicated mid-market account manager for their territories.

To qualify for this program, eligible partners in the Symantec Partner Program need to complete and pass specific sales training requirements on specific SMB-focused solutions and accept the online accreditation and certification agreement. Partners who earn the Symantec SMB Specialist designation receive several benefits, including additional visibility to customers who are looking for specific SMB support.

Symantec SMB Specialists also receive their own toll-free number to receive priority access to Symantec’s Partner Hotline and gain access to an SMB-focused partner account manager for their territories. And SMB Specialists receive listing on Symantec’s Partner Locator to put them in touch with potential customers.

Once SMB Specialization requirements are completed, partners receive a Symantec Sales Professional for SMB Specialization accreditation certificate and logo as well as ongoing communications tailored for SMB Specialists, including news flashes, webcasts, product information and policy information.

Partner Services Programs

Also this week, Symantec launched two new services programs designed to help partners grow revenue. The Symantec Authorized Consulting Partner Program and Symantec Authorized Technical Assistance Partner Program are the first of a number of partner-specific programs that Symantec plans to introduce over the next 12 to 18 months.

With the Symantec Authorized Consulting Partner Program, partners can broaden their existing consulting capabilities and offer a range of advanced services leveraging Symantec’s expertise and best practices in security, compliance, systems and storage management. Partners gain access to Symantec’s consulting best practices, technical training and advanced support. Additional partner benefits include co-marketing opportunities, joint business planning, priority access to Symantec Enterprise Support, and technical job shadowing.

Meanwhile, the Symantec Authorized Technical Assistance Partner Program offers technical assistance training for key volume products including Backup Exec and Symantec AntiVirus, and real-time priority telephone access to Symantec experts to help partners resolve customer needs more quickly. Both of these new programs offer partners the benefit of serving as the local provider managing the account activity, allowing partners to drive dialogues around additional business requirements, and satisfy the customer’s need for additional services, according to Symantec.
