Ubuntu Preparing Managed Services, Small Business Server for VARs

By joe 6 comments

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu Linux, is preparing a managed service platform that will allow VARs and solutions providers to remotely manage Ubuntu-based small business servers.

The managed service will “be a standard way for solutions providers and systems integrators to easily manage and support servers either locally or remotely,” according to March Shuttleworth, CEO of Canonical — the company behind Ubuntu.

Shuttleworth did not give an exact time frame for the managed service platform’s debut, but spoke about a big server-based Ubuntu push occurring over the next year. He delivered his comments during Ubuntu LIVE, a conference here in Portland, Oregon.
