BelAir Promotes MuniWireless Guarantee

The VAR Guy is listening to dozens of speakers at the MuniWireless conference in Newton, Mass. Hundreds of cities are examining universal broadband, but they’re seeking best practices and assurances that the networks will live up to their billing. Almost on cue, BelAir Networks is introducing new service level guarantees to help give city CIOs peace of mind.

BelAir claims it now offers the industry’s first and only Service Level Agreement (SLA) for broadband wireless equipment in city-wide wireless networks. Naturally, however, the networks have to be deployed through BelAir’s Certified Network Design Program.

Eager adopters include US Internet, the ISP that’s deploying a 60-square-mile public broadband network for the city of Minneapolis, according to Joe Caldwell, US Internet Co-founder and CEO.

Under the program, the customer (for instance, a city or county) and their system integrator will agree upon performance and coverage objectives, and then design an architecture to meet those requirements. Through the program, BelAir Networks will then certify their design. Alternatively, BelAir Networks can both design and certify the networks for customers and integrators.
